BIO
Anoushka Lucas is a singer, songwriter, actor and playwright.
Anoushka began her career as a musician, gigging around London with her band and accruing a small but loyal following, occasionally being played on Jazz Fm and BBC Radio 2. All this was well and good, but Anoushka could not make a living playing her own songs, so she began writing music for theatre to earn cash on the side. A few years into her side hustle as a theatre composer, a wily casting director asked her if she’d ever considered acting. This turned out to be a great question: As an actor, she now works regularly in London theatre. To date, she has been nominated for an Olivier Award (Oklahoma! at the Young Vic, 2022) and multiple Offies and 2 Black British Theatre Awards.
In the pandemic, Anoushka was commissioned by the Bush Theatre to write her first play. Elephant sold out its first run in the studio space at the Bush in 2022, before transferring to the main house in 2023. It transferred once more, to the Menier Chocolate Factory in 2025. For Elephant, Anoushka was nominated for the Evening Standard Most Promising Playwright Award, and went on to win the Stage Debut Best Writer award in 2023.
Anoushka is currently working on her second play, on attachment to the National Theatre. She is also composing the score for a new musical, with support from Birmingham Hippodrome.
Anoushka’s first album Dark Soul is available on all music platforms. Her second album Make Believe is released June 6th 2026.
